England’s The Guardian newspaper and Time Magazine both published articles showing Conservative and Republican shifts toward embracing more liberal policy. The Guardian even went so far as to ask, in regard to legalizing pot, “What could be more conservative than a policy that is tough on crime, saves money, protects children and aids global security?” Time Magazine was similarly enthusiastic, noting that even though most Congressional Republicans are maintaining party lines, state party members are another story entirely. One high ranking GOP official has even signed an official protest urging the government not to intervene in the legalization efforts of Colorado and Washington.
