A prominent economist who fled from Russia in April said he won’t return home soon. Sergei Guriev was harassed by Russian investigators. His crime? Co-authoring a report that criticized the prosecution of an oil tycoon who challenged President Vladimir Putin. Russia’s RTS Index is down 45% since its 2007 high. And since Putin returned to the presidency last year, Russian authorities have “initiated prosecutions of protesters and opposition leaders,” according to a May 31 article in The New York Times.
