Violence and separatism continue to surge in Ukraine. In the eastern city of Slovyansk, the interim government of Kiev recently launched a major offensive against a burgeoning pro-Russian insurgency that seized government buildings and shot down helicopters. To the south, the coastal city of Odessa experienced street battles and saw the Trade Unions House set ablaze, resulting in the death of dozens.
