On July 31, Politico wrote, “Vladimir Putin has gone from unpleasant neighbor to monster… .” The next day, President Obama said the Russian president “represents a deep strain in Russia that is probably harmful to Russia over the long term.” Today, we read that Russian troops are massed on the border and are “ready for a potential large-scale invasion of southeastern Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin so chooses.”
