Despite reaching a cease-fire in September, fighting persists between the Ukrainian government and pro-Russian separatist forces. The New York Times reports on November 12 that “Russian troops and military equipment are crossing the border into Ukraine.” Former Soviet leader Gorbachev recently said that the world is “on the brink of a new Cold War.”
