“Espionage is happening at a rate we have never seen before,” said a deputy director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Hackers called “Guardians of Peace” cracked Sony Pictures Entertainment and released gigabytes of sensitive employee information, behind-the-scene politics, unreleased movies and scripts. Eventually the hackers demanded that James Franco and Seth Rogen’s upcoming movie The Interview, about an assassination of North Korea’s leader, be canceled. Sony quickly acquiesced and canceled the premiere.
