Companies hawked drone-busting laser rifles, big-data algorithms that sift personal information and facial recognition cameras that read people’s moods. Yet all this gadgetry in the hands of law enforcement is raising eyebrows among authoritarian watchdogs. Businesses and other governments are taking notice, too.
