Google finds itself on the receiving end of an antitrust lawsuit from Texas and eight other states that could force the tech giant to sell off parts of its business and pay up to “trillions” in fines for allegedly rigging online ad auctions and engaging in “unfair and deceptive” business practices.
Lawyers say that the suit ultimately aims to break up Google’s online empire. Meanwhile, China is pursuing anti-monopoly investigations against Alibaba and the Ant Group, two of the country’s most successful businesses.
