A medical panel wants to lower the age to begin screening overweight and obese adults for prediabetes and type-2 diabetes, which has “crept into young adulthood progressively.” EcoWatch says people’s risk of being obese is increased by sugar, which the average American consumes at three times the rate recommended by the American Heart Association. U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro said she plans to introduce an excise tax on sugar-sweetened beverages.
