Psychedelic research finds approval from the most unlikely places
Move over pickleball and crochet, there’s a new anti-aging strategy in town: Psychedelics. UC Berkeley News, June 8 describes a “first of its kind” neuroimaging study on how psilocybin (i.e., synthetic magic mushrooms) impacts memory in healthy adults aged 60 to 85:
Older adults have been almost entirely excluded from modern psychedelics research, yet they may stand to benefit significantly from compounds that promote brain plasticity.
Increasingly, psychedelic drug use is becoming not only condoned but federally funded.

And on April 18 the President fast-tracked another executive order, “Accelerating Medical Treatments for Serious Mental Illness,” which directs federal agencies to hasten research, regulatory review, and patient access for psychedelic drugs – including for children.
