Springsteen’s “politically charged” tour across America is right on cue
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band opened their 2026 U.S. tour on March 31. And if it weren’t for a pair (or 2) of titanium hips and, according to my editor, even angrier than usual set list, you’d think it was the 1970s all over.
The Boss started the show with the 1970 anti-war anthem, “War (What is it Good For? Absolutely Nothing),” while calling on fans to rise together and resist the “treasonous administration” (Rolling Stone, April 1).

Our April 2026 Socionomist explains how anarchic anthems are “all about social mood.”
Follow the beat of a different perspective into what drives society to oppose its political leaders—either through song or violence—in our April Socionomist today.
