Threats – and acts – of political violence continue to rise….
The 2026 midterm election season is underway. But instead of the usual handshaking and baby-holding by political candidates on the campaign trail, you might be seeing their bodyguards. Writes The Hill on April 9:
Federal campaigns and committees have spent more than $100 million on security measures over the past decade amid an uptick in threats of political violence, including bomb threats and doxing, according to a new report.
The report, released Thursday by the Public Service Alliance, found that security spending during the 2023-2024 campaign cycle was more than five times what it was in the 2015-2016 cycle. The total for the 2023-2024 cycle alone was more than $40 million.
Our April 2025 issue of The Socionomistcover story “We’re Not Going to Take it Anymore: The New Violent Faces of Negative Social Mood” identifies the root cause of the rise in political violence – and it isn’t anything you’ve heard before!

This report is more relevant today than ever. And, right now, you can read it in full, for just $15!
