The most recent equivalent of Paraguay ousting Germany occurred on July 1 when former lawyer-turned-barista Melat Kiros, running as a Democratic Socialist, beat out a superPAC funded, 30-year incumbent member of the House of Representatives for Colorado’s 1st Congressional district.

As Time Magazine (July 1) writes: “Kiros’ win follows a string of recent primary upsets by candidates aligned with Democratic Socialist policies.”
